A Flow of Flowers
Size: 11 ½" X 8 ¾"
Every fall there is a big quilt show in Houston, and the quiltart list has people talking about
going, and others sad that they can't go. In 2007, the idea of a "Stay at Home" challenge
developed for those of us not going. The project was to create a small quilt, no bigger than 9"x12",
to be given to the
Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative
for auction as part of the "Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts" project; this piece has been auctioned off.
The fabric for this piece comes from Belize, scraps given to me by a Mayan seamstress in January 2007.
The brown flowers are part of the background material, with pieces cut from other remnants. I used eyelash
yarn with gradations of blue-green to light green to outline the pieces and the edges of the quilt.
