My quilt guild, the Marathon Quilters, has an annual Secret Valentine challenge, to make and secretly deliver a small quilt to the person whose name you choose, using the fat quarter of fabric included in the bag. I had had the idea for a queen of hearts almost as soon as last year's Valentine's Day was past, and the person who was to get the valentine from me this year had the last name of "MacDonald", so I went ahead as I had planned, only I first looked up the MacDonald plaid, and used that in Her Majesty's robe and in the hearts.
