This is one of three pieces that I made as gifts in the fall of 2001. Having gotten the placemats back after my father died, I did not want to give those away, so I made others specifically as gifts - and never took photos of them! Now after a trip to visit Joy, and thus the opportunity to take that picture, this piece can take its place in my portfolio.

The red tree was inspired quite naturally by the red leaf fabric, using scraps of cloth left after making myself a very autumnal shirt. The other greenery and the sky were also shirt-making scraps and the whole was touched up with some sparkle paint, although no photo can really capture that aspect of these pictures.
