"Fireworks" sprang out of a challenge to use material that we had not worked with before,
and for me, it gave me the chance to use thin gauzy fabric samples with patterns in metallic
thread. The material with the colorful swirled pattern was particularly thin, and I used some
silver ironing board material to back it up, hoping it would give more emphasis to the brightness
of a fireworks display. So that is how I had it as of mid April, until I looked at it again in
August and realized that behind the fireworks swirls, it should be black. Once I fixed that, I
felt I had finally completed this picture.
