The challenge presented for September 2007 was a piece based on architecture, with use of perspective, not a subject that I immediately warmed to, but I tried to use the vanishing point technique to show the rows of bricks diminishing from the front right corner in both directions front to back and right to left, by cutting two pieces of orange fabric along the perspective lines, one vertical and one horizontal, and interweaving them, then sewing the edges. The road, too, with its verges, also diminishes somewhat to the left, along with the stitching. However, keeping the stitching even and straight turned out to be harder than I expected, leading to flaws which called for a tree to somewhat cover them! I do like the windows, however, created with Angelina® fiber. |
