Description
One day at the Framingham Artists Guild room, on our Wednesday open painting day in which I participate in my own way, I found myself without inspiration, and pulled a book at random from our library. My choice was a book on the art of Mary Cassatt, and I mentally groaned when I found that all she did was people – my weak point! But I had determined that whatever I chose would be my source of inspiration, and leafing through the book, I came across her “Child in a Straw Hat” and settled on that. I surprised myself in getting a good resemblance to that painting, and a portrait that feels fairly realistic.
