This still life, Flowers in Black Vase, seemingly made itself in a creative session at the Framingham Artists Guild meeting room. I had received a set of color-coordinated fat quarters which I used to get periodically from Pincushion Boutique, and though they did not appeal to me particularly when they first arrived, at this point they spoke to me, and quite eloquently. Within ten minutes, I had the preliminary layout, and only made slight changes during construction.
This piece seemed to require a very precise oval shape, which I created using a specialized oval mat cutter.
