Description
Batick fabric fascinates me, but I find it hard to use. It forms the frame of this piece and a bit of foliage, though not the center flower. The black and white flowers form a nice contrast, and the center flower is enhanced by a bit of gold foil.
And as for black, my painter friends have said they never use black except for darkening the tone of another color, that black is somehow too heavy to use as itself. Whatever it may do for a painting, if it’s part of my fabric, I’ll use it!
