Garden of the Purple Tree

Description

Another tree, another garden — favorite subjects of mine! Some of the circular designs of pieces in my fabric stash appealed to me for this piece, which includes pieces of silk, not an easy fabric to work with. Silk has its own sheen which adds to the visual effect, but is hard to capture in a photograph. The purples and pinks are set off by the black and white pieces on the left and right.

The purple fabric came from fabric that went into a shirt for my husband. While we dining at a restaurant in Cambridge, Mass., a couple guys on their way out made a sudden turn to comment to him: “Man, that shirt is awesome!”
