Description
Autumn Haiku is my response to a Fast Friday Fabric Challenge to base a work on a haiku, a Japanese poetic form where the three lines have five syllables in the first and third lines, and seven syllables in the second line. Haiku are often nature-themed, and in the limited format, may have a surprising twist in thought.
This piece is in part inspired by a recent workshop in color, so I settled on an analogous color scheme of warm colors. I used Sulky multi-colored thread with some of the fancy stitches on my machine both as applique edges and decorative additions. The haiku is written on the fabric using a red Micron pen.
